Joyce C. Day

After spending 20 years as a licensed psychotherapist and consultant in the fields of education and mental health, Joyce realized the deep longing we all have to feel connected, seen and loved, and as a result, The Day Project was created to fulfill this need.

Through years as a therapist, Joyce learned that regardless of our backgrounds, circumstances, or resources, life will offer us countless tests and endless shifts. As a result, people experience loss, loneliness, shame, fear, ambiguity, and insecurity. Feeling wounded will come, and our struggle to find resolutions from our suffering often won’t be easy. However, as the Sufi poet Rumi wrote, “the wound is the place where the light enters you.” We all can live from an aligned space if we are willing to do our own inner work. For Joyce, this work came from studying the ancient wisdom from yogic philosophy. It was a shift from “doing yoga” to “embodying yoga.” These ancient teachings highlight our interconnectedness, and the ripple effect when one heals is felt collectively.

Joyce holds an undergraduate degree in psychology, a Master’s and Sixth Year degree (CAGS) in educational and school psychology, and a Ph.D. in Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine. She has specialized training in nutritional and integrative medicine for mental health, mindfulness, and is also a registered yoga instructor. Despite her extensive education and professional work, she considers her children to be her wisest teachers and greatest credentials.

Joyce’s world drastically changed after becoming a mother, and her family is her number one priority. Parenthood required Joyce to consciously reflect on and realign the decisions she made for herself, her career, and her family. The Day Project is Joyce’s and her husband’s contribution to move humanity forward in the areas of environmental conservation, mental health, and major illness.
